Call the Midwife Season 13 in Australia is now exclusive to one streaming service following BBC Studios full ownership of BritBox.

Created by Heidi Thomas based on the best-selling memoirs of Jennifer Worth, Call the Midwife is a period drama that revolves around a group of midwives working at Nonnatus House, a nursing convent in East End London. Offering a lighthearted and charming take on midwifery and family between the 1950s and 1960s, it’s one of BBC’s most successful dramas and continues to be a huge hit among global fans.

The latest season of the smash hit period drama is now streaming, but where to watch Call the Midwife Season 13 in Australia?

Following the departure of the BBC First channel from Foxtel, Foxtel Now, and BINGE, every season of Call the Midwife is available to stream online exclusively on BritBox.

Call the Midwife Season 13 Australia release date

Call the Midwife Season 13 premiered earlier this year on Foxtel and BINGE. Episodes have since been removed with most BBC First content leaving the services.

You can instead watch new episodes of the TV show on BritBox, with Season 13 dropping on the service from 9 September 2024.

How to sign up to BritBox? 

You can stream every season of Call the Midwife on BritBox. To begin, you’ll need a subscription in order to access BritBox’s full catalogue of shows and movies. Fortunately, signing up is simpler since there’s only one streaming tier plan available, priced at $9.99 per month or $99.99 yearly.

There’s already 4K streaming on BritBox, although it’s only supported for selected devices, including Samsung smart TVs with 4K. Users can do concurrent streaming of movies and TV shows on the BritBox app for up to four devices.

What is Call the Midwife about?

Putting every expectant mother and expectant father at ease are the midwives at Nonnatus House. In Australia, the new season kicks off with a holiday special on Boxing Day with the rest of the season to follow shortly afterward.

Fan favourite Helen George’s return as Trixie in Call the Midwife Season 12 was one of the previous season’s major highlights, especially since she was able to continue her romance with Matthew Aylward. The couple eventually married in the show’s season 12 finale, but their spectacular wedding was not without challenges. With the help of their loved ones, the ceremony took place as planned.

The previous season was also emotionally gripping as it explored the consequences of the fatal Call the Midwife train crash plot in season 11; the residents of Poplar still traumatised by it.

Another highlight in the previous season was the storyline involving Lucille and her decision to leave Poplar. Her heartbreaking miscarriage in season 11 and other devastating events have taken a toll on her mental health, prompting her to depart for Jamaica, leaving her husband Cyril behind. With this turn of events, it’s hard to know what the future holds for both of them.

Inn Season 13, we’ll see the beloved community at the Nonnatus House growing closer than ever. But life in Poplar continues to be a mix of joy and challenges, and as the year 1969 approaches, they’re going to need to brace themselves for more moments both heartbreaking and inspiring. The latest season also introduces newcomers Joyce and Rosalind.

There’s no shortage of engaging drama, charming dialogues, and endearing characters in this beloved series, which has also been confirmed to continue airing until 2026.

Cast of Call the Midwife Season 13

Helping any young mother and young father navigate giving birth and parenthood are the midwives at the Nonnatus House in East London.

In the early part of the series, the series starred Jessica Raine as Nursing Sister Jenny Lee, Pam Ferris as Sister Evangelina, Bryony Hannah as Nurse Cynthia Miller, Bryony Hannah as Nurse Cynthia Miller, and Victoria Yeates as Sister Winifred.

New cast members have since been introduced since the BBC series premiered back in 2012. For the current cast, it’s expected for all the regulars of the previous seasons to return for season 13, except for Leonie Elliott, who won’t be returning to play Lucille.
