2024 is the year of spies for the former The Witcher star Henry Cavill, who, in addition to The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, also starred in the spy action comedy Argylle.

FeaturedSet during World War II, the British government struggles to stop the Germans from taking over Europe. London is being hit hard while supply and aid ships are constantly sunk by German submarines.
To turn things around, Brigadier Colin Gubbins (Cary Elwes), indirectly supported by Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Rory Kinnear), enlists Gus March-Phillips (Henry Cavill). The latter is tasked with assembling a team to destroy the Nazi’s supply ship. The goal is to neutralise Hitler’s fleet of German U-boats.
Both unsanctioned and unauthorised, Phillips picks his carefully selected team of skillful, yet sort of unhinged members: Marjorie Stewart (Eiza González), Anders Lassen (Alan Ritchson), Freddy Alvarez (Henry Golding), Geoffrey Appleyard (Alex Pettyfer), Henry Hayes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin), and Richard Heron (Babs Olusanmokun).
Touted as the first-ever special forces organisation formed during WWII, this top-secret combat unit embarks on a dangerous mission against the Germans using highly unorthodox strategies and shockingly “ungentlemanly fighting techniques”.
Ian Fleming, played by Freddie Fox in the movie, was part of Gubbins’ inner circle during this period and would later use Operation Postmaster as the inspiration for his now iconic James Bond novels.
Guy Ritchie wrote and directed the film with Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, and Arash Amel also co-writing. It is based on Damien Lewis’ book Churchill’s Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperadoes of WWII.
