Expanding the John Wick universe is a prequel series focusing on Winston Scott (portrayed by Ian McShane in the main John Wick films) and the origin story of The Continental, a chain of hotels around the world where hitmen and high-end criminals can stay and enjoy its services provided they follow its most sacred rule – no killing when on the premises. In New York, The Continental is owned by Winston, a ruthless enforcer of the hotel’s rules. An enigmatic presence that commands respect from his peers and the members of the underworld, The Continental’s origin will be explored through the eyes of a young Winston Scott.

Ahead of its premiere, here’s everything you need to know about the premiere of The Continental: From the World of John Wick in Australia, including release date, cast, trailer, and where you can watch it online.

The Continental: From the World of John Wick preview

Set in the 1970s, The Continental TV show tells the backstory of Winston Scott and how he came to power as the owner of The Continental in New York. A prominent figure in the John Wick movies, a standalone story focusing on the mysterious and formidable hotel proprietor is a long time coming.

As Winston charts a deadly course through his actions, the story of how he ultimately seizes the hotel after much power struggle and bloodshed comprises the show’s main plot. It’s also worth noting that the series is built upon an alternate history combined with real global events such as the Winter of Discontent and the American Mafia’s rise to economic power.

John Wick franchise creator Derek Kolstad and director Chad Stahelski conceived the idea for a prequel in the form of a TV show last 2017. After years of development, the John Wick TV series will finally grace the screens in September, further exploring the hotel’s mysterious underworld and its rich, albeit violent history.

Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons will direct the three-part event from a script they also wrote alongside Ken Kristensen. Kolstad and Stahelski also serve as executive producers alongside David Leitch, Basil Iwanyk, and Albert Hughes.
