After being cancelled by Showtime in 2022, American Rust returns to our screens this year for a new season with Amazon Freevee reviving the series. The second season is subtitled ‘Broken Justice’ and sees lead star Jeff Daniels returning as Chief Del Harris.
The gritty crime drama follows Del Harris as he takes on a murder case that compromises his personal life – the suspect is the son of the woman he loves.
Following the devastating events of the first season, the series will continue to examine the crimes befalling the fictional town of Buell, Pennsylvania through the eyes of its complex protagonist.

Where to watch American Rust Season 2 in Australia?
The new season has been confirmed to premiere on Amazon Prime Video this month. Formerly belonging to Showtime, its cancellation prompted Amazon Freevee to bring it back.
The first season premiered in September 2021 with no continuing episodes afterwards, until American Rust: Broken Justice. So, if you need to rewatch season 1 to help you get reacquainted with the show’s characters and plot, prior episodes are still available to stream on Stan.
American Rust Season 2, however, will only be streamed exclusively on Prime Video.

All American Rust Season 2 episodes only stream on Prime Video, a streaming service that’s part of the larger Amazon Prime. New customers can test run the service for 30 days free. After that, the monthly plan is $9.99/month, or save a little with the annual plan at $79.
In addition to offering third-party content, Amazon Prime is no stranger to big streaming productions with originals like The Rings of Power, Citadel, The Boys, and more. As of this writing, Prime has only one streaming tier which allows up to three concurrent streaming and 4K video quality on selected titles.
Since there’s only one option, all these features are included in the $9.99 monthly plan. With other streamers, users are required to subscribe to a premium plan to get all the best stuff. So despite the recent price increase, this still makes Prime Video one of the cheapest services in Australia.

Jeff Daniels’ Chief Del Harris is taking us back to Buell, Pennsylvania, where he and Grace Poe are attempting to start over after the tragic events of season 1. As per the season 2 trailer, it looks like a wider conspiracy awaits Del Harris and Buell residents, with one murder after another plaguing the small town.
The series is based on Philipp Meyer’s novel of the same name. It aired on Showtime in September 2021, but was cancelled the following year. Amazon Freevee, however, announced it’s reviving the show with most of the original cast members returning. Series creator Dan Futterman also returns to the series, which is now titled ‘Broken Justice’.

Both Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney are returning for new episodes, reprising their roles as Chief Del Harris and Grace Poe, respectively.
Original cast members coming back for the new season also include David Alvarez as Isaac English, Alex Neustaedter as Billy Poe, Julie Mayorga as Lee English, Mark Pellegrino as Virgil Poe, Rob Yang as Chief Steve Park, and Kyle Beltran as Detective Fisher. New cast members will also be introduced in season 2.
